that Glee is amazing? >.<
I just started watching it on Hulu.com the other day and I absolutely love it. My favorite character is Kurt. Haha I think I have a soft spot for gay guys. >.<
But the good news is.... I'M NOT DEAD! To the LJ world, though, I have been dead for at least a month or so. >.<
A little update on my "Witch of Winter" story...
I'm not going to be updating it on Fictionpress.com anymore for a while. I need to finish something before I can post it anywhere. And plus, that was just a draft, what I had posted. It honestly sucked. I'm improving it, and I've changed a lot of the storyline and added to it. I just need to find time to write... >.> Well, I already have one class I KNOW I want to take next year... Creative Writing. :)
Anyways, time to impress you all with my scarce Japanese I learned so far this year.
Konnichiwa, watashi wa Mikayla desu. ... O namae wa? ... Aa, sou desu ka? ... Ii tenki desu ne? ... Nan sai desu ka? ... Juu yon desu ka. ... Kawaii desu ne? ... Sou desu ne. ... Kono hito watashi no tomodachi desu. ... Kore watashi no inu desu. ... Kore watashi no neko desu. ... Sayonara.
Haha if you have absolutely no idea what all that means...
Konnichiwa = hello
Watashi wa Mikayla desu = I am Mikayla
O namae wa? = What is your name?
Aa, sou desu ka? = Oh, is that right?
Ii tenki desu ne? = Good weather, isn't it?
Nan sai desu ka? = How old are you?
Juu yon desu ka. = I am 14 years old.
Kawaii, desu ne? = Cute, isn't it?
Sou desu ne. = I agree
Kono hito watashi no tomodachi desu. = This person is my friend.
Kore watashi no inu desu. = This is my dog.
Kore watashi no neko desu. = This is my cat.
Sayonara. = Goodbye
Aaaand that is the extent of my mini-Japanese lesson for you. >.< I have band practice soon (of course) so I must leave it at that! Sayonara! :)
Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games, comes out on September 1st!
I'm so excited...!! I just read another little snippet summary thing on ww.suzannecollinsbooks.com that, again, makes it sound amazing, and I read another ARC review on a website.
Another thing that I read was Entertainment Weekly's review of Catching Fire. And quite frankly, from everything else I've read about how good the book is, I cannot believe they only gave it a C. Why? First of all, the reviewer's summary of the first book made it sound like she had never read the book before.
"Last year, Suzanne Collins published The Hunger Games, the first in a projected young-adult trilogy about Katniss Everdeen, a heroic adolescent girl who crushed on a sexy hunter. In between romantic daydreams, Katniss shot strange beasts, dodged force fields, and battled murderous zombie werewolves — usually while wearing fabulous glitzy outfits."
Wtf, really? Who's the "sexy hunter" she's crushing on?--if they mean Peeta, well they're mistaken because he was no hunter--he was the baker's son. If they mean Gale, well, didn't Katniss say at the beginning she had no romantic feelings for him? That they were just friends? And that summary makes her sound like some shallow, teenage girl who thinks about nothing but boys and clothes.
And then--here's another thing I hate.
"For PR purposes, Katniss pretends to be in love with her sweet-natured Games teammate Peeta Mellark, but she secretly pines for brooding Gale, a childhood friend. Except — why? There's little distinction between the two thinly imagined guys, other than the fact that Peeta has a dopier name. Collins conjures none of the erotic energy that makes Twilight, for instance, so creepily alluring."
Oh my God. Really? People make it seem like the only other book in the freakin' universe is Twilight!!! There are many, many MUCH better novels than Twilight out there that don't have all that dreamy, perfect romance going on--and the thing is, that THEY DON'T NEED IT. Not every book needs happy endings, non-existant 'battles' and shallow drama like the Twilight series did! I hate when the only book that people even try to compare every book in the world to is Twilight. Seriously, not every book contains all that stuff that Twilight did, and most of the time, that fact makes other stories better. Twilight was so full of cliches and predictability, and I'm glad that there's other books out there like the Hunger Games that are much better written and actually GOOD.
...Sorry if I offended anyone with that. I know I used to be pretty obsessed with Twilight, but now I'm sick of it. I'm just really tired of people always thinking that it's the only good book in the world. Had to get that all of my chest. My rant is over now. ;D
Yay! I'm officially a freshman, as of today! It was my first day of high school, and boy, oh, it was a good day. :) I'm not really gonna go into detail, but this year, my electives are Japanese I, Jewelry Making I, and Band.
And also, I'm about 4 or 5 chapters into BLOOD PROMISE! :DDD
AHHHHH!! :D Blood Promise comes out todaaaaaaaaay! I can't wait to get it!
I hope I can go to Target and buy it before we pick my friends up to go swimming... :]
I want to get my hair cut kind of short with layers--but my hair is kind of puffy and naturally curly/wavy and it's pretty thick, so I dunno if razor cutting it will work. I curl or straighten my hair almost everyday for school.
I don't know which of these hairstyles to go for (all the pics are from online):
All of them are basically the same, but the first is choppier, the second one has longer bangs than the first, and the third isn't as razor-cut/layered.
Anyone have any preference or think one would look better on my hair type? Anyone have any opinions on razor cutting hair or anything at all? Thanks!
Here's some pics from the first episode of the new season of CSI: NY that I found online :D

I have band, once again, everyday, except this time it's from 9-12 and 6-9. It's insane. We're doing pretty good. We have drill for about half of our show. But, it sucks because it's scorching hot out and we have to do all this physical stuff outside.
On the bright side, I've written the 2nd chapter of my story on FictionPress, The Witch of Winter. Now I just need to find the time to revise it and type it on the computer (it's on my iPod now). I have much of the story already planned out, including the ending. I might end up writing a sequel (but I'm just looking way into the future now.) It'll be a while until this one's done, and I'll see when I finish it where it takes me.
Peach out, everyone! (hehe I love that saying. And peaches. ^_^)
Here's the first chapter of that story I said I had started writing... :)
I'm really excited! PLEASE READ AND REVIEW OR LEAVE C
